In the latest State of Play presentation, Sony revealed 14 minutes of gameplay of Horizon Forbidden West. In the video, Aloy, the machine hunter protagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn, fights against some animal-like machines and human enemies. The full footage was captured in Playstation 5.
Horizon Forbidden West
After six months of Horizon Zero Dawn events, Aloy travels west to investigate a mysterious and deadly blight. Where she meets with more deadly animal-like machines and new tribes. To save everyone, she teams up with old friends and looks for the answer to all these incidents.
In the state of play footage, Aloy has sent her friend Erend to San Fransisco to recover a valuable artefact. But he gets captured by the notorious Tenakth tribe, who controls a giant machine named Tremortusks and other small machines. Then she fights with those enemies and destroys those machines with her some new abilities.
Developers added new weapons and tactics in Forbidden West to give players a huge variety of choices. New combos added to close combat, where spear can be charged to do high damage attack, new ammo types for bows, adhesive grenades for the slingshot, temporarily stalling foes, spikes that can be launched into the air and which explode on impact, smoke bombs to blind enemies. All of this can be upgraded in the workbench. Aloy now can go underwater for as long as she wants, thanks to her diving mask. She can jump from high places without taking any damage by using her Fortnite-like glider. Her focus also got an improvement which can scan and highlight free-climbing spots.
Also, some new animal-like machines appeared in the new footage. Those are Sunwings in the sky, Clawstriders and Tremortusks on land, Snapmaws, and the smaller Burrowers in the water.
Guerrilla Games, the Amsterdam-based developer team, didn’t announce any release date yet. However, in a blog post, Ben McCaw, narrative director of Guerrilla Games, said, “We don’t have an exact release date yet, but development is on track and we’ll have an update for you very soon.”
Horizon Forbidden West, the open-world action game, is the sequel of wildly successful Horizon Zero Dawn. Guerrilla Games announced it for Playstation 5 in June 2020 and planned to release it in 2021. Later they confirmed it for Playstation 4 too.
The original Horizon Zero Dawn Released in 2017 on Playstation 4 and became one of the best-selling games. It’s an action role-playing game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The plot follows Aloy, a young hunter in a world overrun by machines, who sets out to uncover her past. As we don’t have any release date yet, so we have to wait more.
