343 Industries has announced that they are delaying the Co-op and Forge campaign for Halo Infinite until after launch, as the developers focus on completing the single-player and multiplayer campaign during the release period.
In an developer update video from Halo’s official YouTube channel, Halo Infinite Creative Lead Joseph Staten confirmed that neither the Campaign nor Forge will be featured in Halo Infinite when it releases. 343 confirms that Halo Infinite is “100% committed” to the release of its highly anticipated holiday shooter.
Campaign CoOp is a major part of the Halo franchise, playable through a single-player campaign with a friend. Meanwhile, Forge is a unique experience where players can design their own game modes by creating custom maps, rules, and more. Forge is the source of some of the most innovative player-made modes, some of which have become Halo’s official online modes.
“Unfortunately, while we were focusing the team on the shutdown and really focusing on the quality experience for the launch, we made the very difficult decision to delay shipping. move co-op campaign for launch. We also had a hard time delaying the shipping also needed to forge after launch,”Joseph Staten
Staten has confirmed that the team is scheduling seasonal releases for Campaign Co-op and Forge. While Halo Infinite will launch with single-player and multiplayer in season 1, Staten said the team is aiming to release a co-op campaign in season 2 and Forge in season 3.
Staten clarified that one The new season will be released every three months, which means the co-op campaign won’t be released until 2022, most likely (assuming the holiday season starts in November).
Staten says the delay is a result of the complexity involved in the development of the game, especially with the campaign cage. “On the barn side, we have the option to play the campaign all the time, which is this great Halo campaign, open-minded and non-linear. From different angles, to progress in the game your way.”, Staten revealed.
“At the same time, though, it’s complicated. When you think of the storage system and all the technology that has to lead to this more non-linear experience, and in the barn, it’s even more complex.”
Halo Infinite Release Date
Halo Infinite still doesn’t have an official release date, although community manager Brian Jarrard says the team is basically ready to confirm an official date. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed earlier that the studio is gearing up for Halo Infinite’s holiday 2021 launch, and it’s essentially about shrinking the window to a specific date.
In the meantime, Halo Infinite will continue to roll out more test flights for pre-launch multiplayer.
