Rockstar Games announced on Friday that they are working on a sequel of their next-gen open-world action-adventure series Grand Theft Auto.
We know it’s under development from various claims and rumours. But now it’s official as Rockstar confirmed it but it’s not coming anytime soon.
Here’s what Rockstar said in a press release about the upcoming sequel of Grand Theft Auto IP:
Grand Theft Auto 6 Rockstar Announcement
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.
“On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!”
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed anything about the game title but most probably they will follow the pattern like the previous two games. Also, it will be very interesting to see how they execute the game without Dan Houser, writer, and voice actor, as well as the co-founder and former vice president of creativity for Rockstar Games who left the studio in 2020.
In terms of the game itself, Rockstar isn’t announcing anything right now, and it’s not saying when it will. According to previous reports, the first edition of GTA 6 may be smaller than GTA 5, with patches utilized to improve it over time. According to other rumours, the game would be situated in a Miami-inspired Vice City.
