If you play Disco Elysium today, you might be surprised to find something new. The “Jamais Vu” update for Disco Elysium has been revealed by Studio ZA/UM, and it appears to bring some cryptic new material.
The developer talks about it in a new Steam blog post, which includes a few cryptic hints about what’s new. After all, Disco Elysium is a detective narrative. It’s possible that rushing the players to the new content would ruin the atmosphere. Instead, with the Disco Elysium update, ZA/UM includes some helpful recommendations for finding the proper threads to pull:
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut Jamais Vu Update
- Perhaps it’s worth stopping a while to admire the scenery
- The cold coastal waters are known to wash up the lost
- Knock, knock, lieutenant
There’s also an illustration with some useful ideas to help you think like a detective. After all, it’s been a while for some of us. Being the best-worst investigator on the force isn’t easy.
If you’re unfamiliar with Disco Elysium’s mysteries, it’s also on sale as part of the Steam holiday sale. The price of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut has been reduced to just $17.99. ZA/UM has also collaborated with Remedy Entertainment and publisher 505 Games to create a Control x Disco Elysium package for the sale. That’s two excellent games for a very reasonable price.
Disco Elysium is a game that I still think about on a daily basis. It lingers, whether it’s because of its beautiful universe, the way it puts your inner cacophony of thoughts and ideas into a role-playing system, or just because of that trumpet blasting out over the water as you walk outdoors. It’s still one of the most engaging role-playing games you’ll find on a PC, and a slight sense of Jamais Vu might be enough to convince you to return. I’ve never played a high-action muscle cop game.
