Alan Wake 2 is finally official, and will be released in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Epic Games Store. Fans have been waiting for this announcement for more than a decade.
It’s good news, but not particularly surprising; after all, Remedy has spent the last few years trying to reintroduce Alan Wake to the public consciousness, first with a cameo in the studio’s critically acclaimed supernatural shooter Control, and then with a refreshed remaster of the 2010 original earlier this year.
Alan Wake 2 Official Announcement Trailer:
Remedy‘s Sam Lake walked the stage at this year’s Game Awards to show a first, appropriately somber, and highly damp teaser trailer, before calling the sequel as the studio’s “first-ever survival horror game.”
Despite its horror aspects, Alan Wake was mostly an action game, but Lake claims that Alan Wake 2 would focus on horror, with a “deep psychological layer” this time around.
The problem to all of this excitement is that Alan Wake 2 is still a ways off, with a release date of 2023 projected. Remedy, on the other hand, promises it will reveal additional details in the summer of next year.
